Adrian Newey ‘s exit from Red Bull had caused multiple other crucial crew members to leave the team. However, Mercedes became the center of attraction after multiple crucial people left them. The Mercedes crew left the German carmaker and joined Red Bull due to their promising campaign. Toto Wolff has since broken the silence over the exaggeration of the number of people leaving the team.

Toto Wolff had been constantly speaking over Red Bull’s development in F1, especially after Adrian Newey‘s exit. The team principal received a stern response from Christian Horner who asked him to ‘focus’ on the 220 Mercedes crew leaving the team. Wolff pointed out that only 19 engineers left his team for the Austrian team which was a very ‘normal average.’

Red Bull took 19 engineers from Mercedes, which is a normal average in terms of staff fluctuation from one stable to the others. Toto Wolff said, as reported by formulapassion.it.

Hence, Toto Wolff reckoned that it was more important to hold Mercedes crew together rather than them leaving for rivals. The team principal highlighted that he wouldn’t change anything in regard to the engine department of the Brackley-based team. As a result, the 52-year-old is keen to keep the present crew despite the degrading form of the outfit in recent seasons.

We have to make sure that whoever is in Mercedes prefers to stay instead of going elsewhere and I would not change anything regarding the organization of the engine department. Toto Wolff added.

Toto Wolff labels Mercedes a ‘perfect organization’ despite woeful performances in the ground-effect era

Mercedes has failed to showcase any impressive results during the ongoing ground-effect era. The outfit has won only one race since the 2022 season. Regardless, the team principal was highly praiseful of Brackley. Wolff mentioned that Mercedes had a ‘perfect organization’ and the team was giving results for a very long time.

It is a perfect organization and it is seen that they are giving results, and have given them for a long time. Toto Wolff said, as reported by f1ingenerale.com.

Apart from this, Wolff recalled his team’s success since the 2014 season. The 52-year-old reckoned that Mercedes was the ‘reference point’ since then with another engine. The team principal was sure that this fact didn’t change even during the woeful performances. Hence, Toto Wolff highlighted that he couldn’t wait to see what the regulation changes of the 2026 season put forth in terms of competition on the grid.

Since 2014 we have been practically the reference point, or perhaps with another engine, the reference point. This has not changed. I can't wait for 2026 to see the different performance levels of the power units. Toto Wolff concluded.

As indicated earlier, Mercedes has been struggling to bring home victories for a very long time. Despite bringing multiple in-season upgrades, Brackley has fallen down in the pecking order. Regardless, the team continues to attempt to improve performance over the 2024 season with a lackluster chassis.
