Victor Wembanyama's latest honor puts another spotlight on his greatness

Entering the season, questions surrounded Wembanyama's ability to hold his own on the defensive end. His slight, wiry frame concerned some talent evaluators, as he had never dealt with the athleticism and physicality in the NBA. 

Wembanyama has met and overcome every challenge he's faced. He's learned how to use his positioning as a weapon and has been adding muscle to his frame to absorb contact better.

It wasn't only on the defensive end that Wembanyama impressed. He ended the season with averages of 21.4 points, 10.6 rebounds and 3.9 assists while shooting 46.5% from the field and 32.5% from three-point range. One of the most impressive aspects of his game was his ability to handle the basketball. He dribbles like a talented point forward, allowing him to create for himself and his teammates.

Wembanyama can also open up perimeter shots for himself off the bounce or by operating off-ball due to his exceptional footwork and shooting ability. To have such a diverse, two-way impact as a rookie is mindblowing. 

The scary part is that Wembanyama can still make vast strides in his development. As he grows into his frame and refines his skillset, he will become an elite talent even more. This feat begins a likely illustrious career for the young French phenom.
