Dolphins safety appears to take a shot at former DC

Miami Dolphins safety Jevon Holland is entering his fourth season in 2024 and will be working under a third different defensive coordinator in the last three years.

The Dolphins and Vic Fangio mutually agreed to part ways in January and the team hired former Houston Texans defensive coordinator and Baltimore Ravens defensive line coach Anthony Weaver as his replacement. Weaver also played seven seasons as an NFL defensive end from 2002-08 with the Texans and Ravens.

While discussing the transition from Fangio to Weaver on Tuesday, Holland appeared to take a shot at the departed coordinator.

The 24-year-old defensive back was limited to a career-low 12 games in 2023 but still finished the year second on the team with three forced fumbles, as well as four passes defended, three tackles for loss and one interception. Holland's lone interception last season was a 99-yard pick-six (the first of his career) on a hail Mary pass from New York Jets quarterback Tim Boyle.

Miami ended its only season under Fangio with the 22nd-ranked defense, allowing 23 points per game. The Dolphins surrendered more than 30 points four times during the 2023 campaign (all road contests), including 48 to the Buffalo Bills in Week 4 and 56 to the Baltimore Ravens in Week 17.
