Los Angeles Rams add depth to their RB group by signing veteran free agent to a one-year deal
Bill Streicher-USA TODAY Sports

ESPN's Adam Schefter has reported that the Los Angeles Rams have signed veteran free agent running back Boston Scott to a one-year contract.

Scott entered the NFL as a sixth-round pick by the New Orleans Saints in 2018. Later that year he was signed by the Philadelphia Eagles off of the Saints' practice squad. Scott served as a valuable role player for the Eagles as one of the better backup running backs in the league.

In 2023 Scott saw his lightest workload since his rookie year with just 20 carries. With new starting RB Saquon Barkley and 2024 fourth-round draft pick Will Shipley now on the Eagles' roster, Scott became the odd man out. With the Rams, Scott will look to be a complementary piece to starter Kyren Williams.

It won't come easy for Scott, however, as he'll compete with Rams 2024 third-round pick Blake Corum. Scott obviously has the experience factor on his side, but at 29 years old he may not have the overall athleticism that Corum brings. Another advantage Scott has is his ability in pass protection.

Scott has 1,295 career rushing yards on 302 carries and 71 receptions for 566 yards. He has a career 4.3 yards per carry average and 16 total touchdowns.
