The Tennessee Titans' offseason is in full swing now that the NFL Draft and free agency are behind us. The next few months will be all about getting the team's 90-man roster in the best spot ahead of Week 1. But what can fans be looking forward to in the coming weeks and beyond?
The NFL's schedule release is just right around the corner! We already know the Titans' 2024 opponents, but we'll find out the when and where they play here very soon!
So, let's dive into the upcoming 2024 NFL schedule release, opponents, biggest games, predictions, and more!
The NFL teased during the draft that schedules will be released in May, but they still haven't given us the exact date. If we look back on the last couple of years of schedule releases it's usually just before the midpoint of May. In fact, it's been the second Thursday in May two years in a row now. If that holds true this year we can expect the NFL schedule release as early as May 9th!
Once that officially comes out, we will update this page here with the complete official Titans 2024 schedule.
Games played at Nissan Stadium: Houston Texans, Indianapolis Colts, Jacksonville Jaguars, New England Patriots, New York Jets, Green Bay Packers, Minnesota Vikings, Cincinnati Bengals
Away games: Houston Texans, Indianapolis Colts, Jacksonville Jaguars, Buffalo Bills, Miami Dolphins, Chicago Bears, Detroit Lions, Los Angeles Chargers, Washington Commanders
Every divisional game: The Texans, Jaguars, and Colts all three had winning records last year. Every single divisional win could be the difference between finishing first or fourth in the AFC South this season.
Titans at Chargers: The Chargers will look completely different this year with new head coach Jim Harbaugh. Despite them finishing 5-12 last season this could be a surprisingly tough away game that the Titans absolutely have to win if they want to make the playoffs in 2024.
Titans vs. Jets: A healthy Aaron Rodgers makes the Jets stacked roster immediately a playoff contender. This is another team who struggled last season, but the Titans must beat at home to secure a playoff spot. Facing off against the stacked AFC East and the Bengals with a healthy Joe Burrow this year doesn't leave much room for error against teams they "should" beat like the Jets.
Between Thursday Night Football, the Black Friday game, Thanksgiving, Christmas, Sunday Night Football, and Monday Night Football there are plenty of opportunities for Titans primetime games this year. However, the Titans aren't quite often a nationally televised priority unless they're paired with larger market teams or bigger brands. Here are the most likely four games that could feature in a primetime slot:
The NFL has scheduled a lower-mid tier NFC opponent to play the Titans in Week 1 three years in a row now. This year, the Titans play five intriguing NFC opponents. Three of them have brand new first round quarterbacks. The Commanders and first round quarterback Jayden Daniels aren't supposed to win many games, but that could be an exciting first game of the year.
Week 18 is almost always an AFC South opponent. It's been either the Jaguars or Texans for the last five years. It's likely the Colts' turn in 2024.
Warren Sharp of Sharp Football Analysis ranks strength of schedule for all 32 NFL teams every year based off of Vegas' projected win totals for all their opponents in the upcoming season. This makes more sense than simply combining win-loss record from the previous season because rosters are so drastically different year over year.
As of this writing, Sharp has the Titans' with the sixth most difficult schedule for the 2024 season. Only the Vikings, Ravens, Browns, Patriots, and Steelers have tougher schedules, as you can see in the image below.
