Tom Brady Gets Honest About Houston Texans QB CJ Stroud
Kiyoshi Mio-USA TODAY Sports

CJ Stroud and the Houston Texans are being viewed as a legitimate Super Bowl contender heading into the 2024 NFL season. After years of being one of the worst teams in the NFL, things have completely turned around. Most of that has to do with the hiring of new head coach DeMeco Ryans and the emergence of Stroud as a rising superstar at the quarterback position.

Outside of those two moves, the Texans have drafted well and have been able to make shrewd moves in free agency and on the trade market.

During the NFL offseason this year, the Texans were able to pull off a major trade to acquire wide receiver Stefon Diggs from the Buffalo Bills. That move alone has moved the needle dramatically to make Houston an even more serious contender.

Back to talking about Stroud, the second-year standout received some major praise from NFL legend Tom Brady recently.

During a recent appearance on “The Pivot Podcast,” Brady opened up with his thoughts on Stroud. He was asked about who some players around the NFL are that he enjoys watching because of the way they approach the game. Stroud was his top example.

“I mean, C.J. (Stroud) is a good example. Like, I really appreciate where he came from and all the expectations that he had and what he’s gone and put together last year with a lot of humility.”

In addition to the kind words from Brady, Ryans also spoke out about his quarterback and showered him with praise.

“The accuracy, the arm strength, the vision, he has all of those things. But it’s the intangible that set him apart. And the connectedness in the locker room, how he gets the guys around him in the locker room to just believe in him.”

Stroud put together a monstrous rookie season in 2023 for the Texans. He ended up completing 63.9 percent of his pass attempts for 4,108 yards, 23 touchdowns, and just five interceptions. In addition to those numbers, he picked up 167 yards and three more touchdowns on the ground.

When everything was said and done, Stroud ended up leading his team to the playoffs. He also led them to a first-round blowout victory over the Cleveland Browns in the Wild Card.

Needless to say, the sky is the limit for the Texans with Stroud leading the way. They’re being called a legitimate contender in 2024 and rightfully so. It will be interesting to see just how good they are with all of the moves they have made and with the development of their young talent.

Expect to see CJ Stroud come out looking even more dominant than he was a rookie. He has a great head on his shoulders, great leadership skills, and a generational arm talent to back it up. The Texans are going to be a very good team in 2024 and are going to be very entertaining to watch.
